Children Are Our Future began in 1986 with one home and 6 at-risk youth. Today, we have 13 homes and have served over 3000 children from our program.

But this is one job that will never be complete. In Los Angeles County there are approximately 10,000 abandoned, abused and neglected children. We work exclusively with teenagers. Providing these 13—17 year olds with the programs and services that “nurture and enhance positive growth and productive adulthood.”

The Legacy of Abuse

Our mission is to give these victimized children the secure and stable environment that encourages them to lead rewarding and fulfilling lives. Our family-style group homes, in the San Fernando Valley, are staffed with trained professionals. Our counselors and therapists work with our kids to teach them appropriate behavior to deal with life’s challenges.

Family counseling, community participation and social skills development are integral to ending the cycle of abuse.

Making the Voluntary Choice

Our philosophy is, to get the most benefit from Children Are Our Future; our kids must be able to choose freely. Their participation must be voluntary. They are given the opportunity to make choices, and the problem solving tools to make these decisions wisely.

The Learning Process is On-Growing

Most of our children attend area public schools. We strive to provide them with all the experiences available. If they are interested in sports, we encourage them to participate. Whether playing organized team basketball or pick-up games of flag football.

We will work to get those who show more academic discipline placed in private schools. Our Youth Enrichment Services (YES) center teaches life skills and academic tutoring.
